The cartridge pins have been polished and cleaned with anhydrous ethanol and polishing compound to remove dirt. They have been maintained to the point where they start up almost immediately on my console, but there is no guarantee of immediate startup on other consoles. This is an old product from decades ago, so it may require several insertions and removals.
