"Kōrozen" is a color used for the ceremonial robes of the Emperor of Japan, and is considered a "zettai kinjiki" (absolute forbidden color), meaning it is forbidden for anyone other than the Emperor to wear. Even in modern times, when restrictions on forbidden colors have been relaxed, it is said that only the Emperor is permitted to wear it. The color of this Nagoya obi and haori evokes this "Kōrozen," with a deep, bright yellowish-brown base, and is filled with luxurious techniques. The patterns, including the green and white petals, feature "shibori-zome" (tie-dyeing) for a plump, three-dimensional effect, while the other designs are expressed through delicate "embroidery" using lustrous gold and silver threads, making this a masterpiece overflowing with the warmth of handcraftsmanship and a sense of luxury. I received this from a relative, so the details are unknown, but both the haori and obi appear to be unused. The Nagoya obi shows no signs of wear, and the haori still has its basting threads. As an accessory, a new haori cord that matches the color of the haori is included. However, there are wrinkles from long-term storage.
