This is a high-end Suzuki instrument, part of the popular "Special Series," and a relatively rare fractional instrument, a Special No. 2, size 3/4. The Special Series is highly sought after for its use of superior wood, and many collectors covet these models. This instrument has a calm, refined appearance with a dark red color. The varnish is in near-perfect condition, and considering it's a Special No. 2 from 60 years ago (1965), it's in remarkably good condition. The fittings, including the chin rest and tailpiece, are original. An adjuster has been added to the A string for tuning purposes, but it can be removed for better sound. Here are my impressions after playing it (subjective): The strings are standard nylon test strings, not high-end, but even so, the tone is incredibly rich and deep. Instruments that are over half a century old have a completely different resonance and a certain maturity that new instruments lack. It truly lives up to the Special Series name. The balance across the four strings is excellent, and the volume is substantial. The response to vibrato is also superb, with a pleasant resonance from low to high notes. (Dominant strings would be a good choice. Please replace them according to your preference.)
