Released in '98, this is indie soul. Though her name isn't in the credits, and it's not a feature you'd immediately recognize, seeing the music video for the title track for the first time after 28 years revealed Faith Evans in all her beauty, adding to their chorus, which was a fresh surprise. I haven't listened to it properly, or rather, studied it? I have several CDs like that, so it's commonplace to make discoveries like this only after time has passed, which is quite embarrassing. Well, putting that aside, the video also shows that the group is a quartet of vocalists, all with the ability to take the lead, and the fact that Percy Bady, a somewhat well-known figure in that world, wrote the songs, easily suggests their Gospel roots. "Workin' For Your Good," the final track featuring the female singer Yvette Graham, is something I've come to like only now, and I'm listening to it on repeat. It has a familiar melody, but it's incredibly good, and you'll regret missing it...
