This is a rotating tabletop ornament with butterfly and flower embroidery on silk on both sides. It was found during a cleanup of my parents' house and is not a recent item. I don't know when it was purchased, but it is definitely antique. It is believed to be over 20 years old. Please understand that it is not new before purchasing. Features: The frame is decorated with cloisonné. The base has a white background with a painting of a dragon and phoenix, which are considered auspicious symbols in China. The butterfly and flower embroidery is made using a "double-sided embroidery" technique, where there are no knots on either side, and is a delicate and realistic finish, also known as a "silk painting." Origin and Technique: This type of elaborate hand embroidery is Suzhou embroidery, one of the four major embroideries of China.
