This is Trio A, manufactured by Tuscan, England, in June 1953 to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. The plate features a monochrome portrait of the Queen in the center, surrounded by the national flowers of the British Commonwealth: the Tudor rose of England, the thistle of Scotland, and the shamrock (a clover-like plant) of Ireland. Of course, a crown sits above her head. The cup and saucer also depict the daffodil, the national flower of Wales, in addition to the other three countries' flowers. While various manufacturers produced porcelain items for Queen Elizabeth, I believe it's rare to find pieces where the photograph of her face is so seamlessly integrated with illustrations of national flowers, the crown, and other symbols. This piece beautifully achieves that fusion, and it's a rare, unused trio consisting of a cup & saucer and a 20cm plate. I hope those who collect such items will consider this. Regarding the condition, it is a beautiful item in excellent condition, having been stored in a cabinet and never used. There are only one or two very slight scratch marks on the plate, and almost none on the saucer. However, 72 years have passed since its manufacture. Please understand that this is a vintage item, and as such, there may be printing misalignments, ink transfer, pinholes, air bubbles, unevenness in the ceramic, variations in the glaze, and saucer marks.
