This is a traditional ikat from Alor Island, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. I purchased it on Alor Island in 2002. This ikat uses spun yarn instead of hand-spun yarn. It features the traditional colors of Alor Island, with a base of maroon and woven with black and beige threads. The black parts use threads dyed with natural dyes. Size: 22 x 146cm (+ 10cm fringe) Although unused, it has been stored for a long time, so I washed it before listing it. The motif is a turtle.
