She is the younger sister of Kokiden no Nyogo. She was supposed to enter the court after receiving the favor of Emperor Suzaku during his time as Crown Prince, but she met and had secret meetings with Hikaru Genji at a cherry blossom banquet, and her father, the Minister of the Right, found out, leading to the cancellation of her court entry. Mikushigedono was a place within the Imperial Palace where the Emperor's clothing was sewn, and Oborozukiyo was the Betto (chief female official) of Mikushigedono. "Mikushigedono" refers to the quarters of female officials who sewed clothes in the inner palace during the Heian period. It was located within the Jogan-den in the Imperial Palace and was the place where costumes were sewn and procured, excluding those made by the Kuraryo (Imperial Treasury). It can also refer to a place where costumes were sewn and procured in the homes of nobles. The head of the female officials serving in "Mikushigedono" was called "Mikushigedono no Betto," and it was common for senior court ladies to hold this position. From the time of Emperor Reizei, they often became wives and concubines of the Emperor and Crown Prince.
