I made a two-layer drum obi from a fukuro obi (formal obi). It's separated into the part that wraps around the waist and the drum (otaiko) section. The drum isn't sewn on; it's attached with Velcro, so you can adjust the size of the drum. A great feature is that it can be stored in a tatoushi (paper wrapping for kimono). ◎ Information on the Obi Makura Base Since two-piece obis without fasteners tend to slip down, using the separately sold obi makura base will keep the obi from slipping and provide peace of mind.
