It's a thick, sturdy fabric, and the obi itself feels more substantial than one made from two silk komon fabrics. This is a handmade hanhaba obi, made by deconstructing, washing, and remaking a kimono. This obi was sewn by a friend who is good at sewing, and it has a crisp finish.
