I wouldn't go so far as to say I wish I'd been born during the war (though in America)... but when it comes to music, I feel it was the best era. I've said it many times, but for some reason, when it comes to jazz vocals, I've been captivated by white singers, both male and female. For over 40 years... including Stafford. All 12 ballads on this album were hits during the war. Surely many people were healed by those songs. Listening and imagining that, I might be the only one, but I long for that era. Purely, I'm listing this with the hope that as many people as possible will listen to these masterpieces now, in this day and age. Well, I'm sure this feeling won't reach anyone. Oh well. Please understand that this is a used record, with signs of aging such as damage to the jacket, scratches on the record, stains and folds on the liner notes, and the characteristic surface noise of analog records.
