It has a spring that automatically opens the scissors when removed from the holder, making it very smooth to use even when wading in the river. I used to attach it to my vest for stream and sweetfish fishing. There is no rust, and the scissors work perfectly. It was stored in my sweetfish fishing tackle box at home.
