This item is new and unused, with no creases on the ends. It's essentially a new, old stock item, and there are no noticeable yellowing or stains. However, there is a slight mothball smell, so I'm listing the condition as "slightly damaged or with stains." This is a fukuro obi (formal obi) with a lot of gold thread. It's suitable for pairing with summer kimono like ro (crepe silk) or sha (gauze silk) visiting kimonos, tsukesage (semi-formal kimono), or iromuji (single-color kimono) during July and August (or even June and September depending on the region and temperature) for weddings, receptions, celebrations, and parties. This item was purchased and stored long-term by a relative of the seller, hence the slight mothball smell. (You can smell it if you hold the obi about 5cm away, but it's not overpowering.) Cleaning and replacing the obi core aren't very expensive, so you can have it professionally cleaned if you're concerned. It's a beautiful piece, and it would be a shame to discard it. However, the design doesn't match my existing summer visiting kimonos, making it difficult for me to wear, so I'm selling it at a low price.
