This is an exquisite vintage automatic wristwatch for women from International Watch Company. It has a simple design that embodies the functional beauty of IWC. It's becoming increasingly difficult to find such a high-quality piece. The body is made of stainless steel with a screw-back case. The dial has a silver sunburst finish. The crown features the IWC fish logo, a symbol of water resistance, but this is an early type with realistic fins. It is equipped with an automatic winding movement that winds the mainspring automatically with the movement of the wrist. This "Pellaton winding system," designed by IWC's technical director at the time, is a highly efficient automatic winding mechanism that has been passed down to modern IWC automatic watches. The cal.44 movement is equipped with a classic screw balance. A pleasing feature is the rare Gay Frères IWC original bracelet, with a mirror-finished center and a hairline finish on both ends. The accuracy of the watch after the overhaul was measured at approximately +5 seconds per day with a timegrapher, resulting in high precision. Originally a water-resistant watch, the gaskets have been replaced during the overhaul, but the water resistance has deteriorated over time, so it should be treated as a non-water-resistant watch (sweat in the summer should not be a problem). The movement is better made than comparable Omega and Rolex watches of the time, and can be considered over-engineered. Buying an IWC means paying a premium for the movement, so it's essential to buy one that has been properly maintained.
