This is a Hama-ya stand made of Japanese cypress by a traditional craftsman. Instead of leaving the Hama-ya (sacred arrow) you buy at a shrine for events like childbirth, marriage, Shichi-Go-San (a children's festival), new construction, or exorcism, on top of a dresser, it's good to display it in the entrance hall or living room, where it's visible, to ward off bad luck from your family and home.
