Being urethane, it's more resistant to degradation than rubber, has no odor, and feels good to the touch. There are some scratches, but they are easy to grip and make training more effective. The center ring rotates, but it can be used without any problems. Due to the nature of the product, there may be scratches, rust, and dirt as it is a used item.
