This is quite a niche item, and there's no one around me who appreciates and enjoys things like this. It was used on an old scroll, and this piece is from a collection I received from a closed-down shop in Kyoto. I believe it's a foreign-made textile from the Ming Dynasty or later, but similar items exist in the Korean Peninsula, so the details are unclear. It's a ground weave, with a pattern woven in a thick weft thread and gold leaf on a gauze or crepe fabric. The gold has mostly flaked off, and the weft threads are also frayed. I think it would have disappeared long ago if it weren't for the backing paper. Maximum width: Approximately 20.5cm The size is approximate.
