This pattern is based on the motif of arrow feathers (yabane) and is considered one of the auspicious patterns. About Yagasuri: Meaning and Origin: Because an arrow, once fired, does not return, the pattern carries the meaning of "not returning," and it was used as part of a bride's trousseau during the Edo period. History: During the Meiji period, it became a popular pattern for kimonos worn with hakama (pleated skirts) by female students, and it remains a classic pattern often seen in graduation hakama styles today.
