The song is Rossini's "The Thieving Magpie" (3 parts). Early Rossini pieces from Reuge are very popular with collectors for their beautiful tone and excellent arrangements. This item was acquired from an American collector and has been stored at home in its current condition. There is no damper noise, and it plays with a nearly smooth and beautiful tone, but there are occasional sections where the playing speed slows down. Also, when the mainspring is loosening, a low "thump" sound can be heard. While I haven't been able to thoroughly investigate, based on visual inspection and experience, there are no apparent issues such as broken parts. It is believed that cleaning the mainspring and parts would resolve the issue. If you are not concerned about this, you can enjoy it as is. About 10 years ago, I ran a music box shop called "Mametaro's Music Box Shop," where I sold and repaired used music boxes. Due to the worsening of a chronic illness, I am now unable to perform adjustment work, so I am offering it for sale in its current condition.
