I purchased this about four years ago, but I'm selling it due to moving and decluttering. A 1900s-1920s indigo linen smock. While there are many of these items, the number that still retain the egg white treatment is overwhelmingly small. Originally, the egg white treatment was said to have only been available to the upper class. In addition to repelling insects with indigo, the egg white treatment was said to prevent sheep's wool, etc., from sticking to the fabric. I have kept this item in its original condition since I purchased it, without washing it even once. The gathering is quite detailed, and both the collar and sleeve length are in good condition.
