Shonai Sashiko is one of the three major types of sashiko embroidery in Japan, along with Tsugaru Kogin-zashi and Nanbu Hishizashi. The intricate patterns, embroidered with white cotton thread on indigo-dyed cotton cloth, reinforced work clothes and increased their warmth.
