AQUAPOLIS: Under the theme of "The Sea - A Desirable Future," AQUAPOLIS was the world's first marine experimental city exhibited by the Japanese government at this exposition. Current Status: AQUAPOLIS continued to operate after the exposition, but it closed in 1993 due to a decrease in visitors and aging, and was dismantled in 2000.
