This is a suzuri (inkstone) for holding sumi ink. It can also be used as a brush washer and brush rest. It has a sturdy construction and is stable. After removing a name sticker, there is a small crack, but I believe it does not affect its use. Please understand that this is a used item and has been stored at home before purchasing.
