Chicken egg paper (likely from 1885 to 1888, the period he was Chief of the General Staff) Prince Arisugawa Taruhito initially acted as a supporter of the Choshu clan. Later, he became the President of the new government and obtained the position of Commander-in-Chief of the Eastern Expedition during the Boshin War. He held various posts, including Minister of War, Governor of Fukuoka Domain, President of the Genroin (Privy Council), Commander-in-Chief of the Suppression of Rebels in Kagoshima Prefecture during the Satsuma Rebellion, Left Minister, and Army General. He served as Chief of the General Staff during the Sino-Japanese War and went to the Hiroshima headquarters, but fell ill and passed away.
