This is a vintage mandolin, the "M5" (1981) by Ochiai Mandolin. The selling price for this instrument at Ikegaku, a mandolin specialty store, in their "reused instruments" category, seems to be around 120,000 to 150,000 yen. While there are some minor scratches and playing marks from use, there is no sun damage or fading of the finish, and it is glossy, a very clean instrument that doesn't show its age. There are no cracks or splits, and no repairs or adjustments are needed, so it can be played immediately after tuning. What appears to be a crack in the headstock photo is actually the wood grain. The neck is straight. There is no neck warping or cracks at the neck-body joint, which can occur with age. The string height at the 12th fret is 2.0mm for the G string and 1.5mm for the E string, which are appropriate values. There is almost no fret wear. A dedicated hard case is included. There is some slight rust and dullness on the metal parts, but it is in quite good condition. Shipping will generally be from Monday to Thursday.
