I recently powered it on and played a recorded video from that time to check its operation, and I was a little surprised at how clear the picture was, better than I expected. The fast forward and rewind functions are fast and comfortable, just as advertised. The remote control and the unit itself are in good working order, but some of the styrofoam packing material has stuck to the top panel and won't come off even when rubbed. The remote control itself shows some discoloration, possibly from sun exposure. I am a non-smoker, so there is no nicotine smell.
