Island Tradition, crafted by Robin Gleason, son of Bob Gleason (Pegasus), a ukulele builder from the Big Island of Hawaii. As a ukulele made in Hawaii, it is crafted using Hawaiian koa with exquisite wood grain, which is rarely seen in recent years. This instrument was made in 2010, and from the included warranty, it is clear that it is a shop order model from the famous Osaka shop "Ukulele Shop Ohana." It is a soprano ukulele with a scale length of approximately 349mm and a total length of approximately 543mm. It features an all-Hawaiian koa body, mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard & bridge, and an abalone rosette. The fingerboard inlay is a pineapple shape, which is cute, although other models may feature turtle shapes. There are no signs of peeling on the bracing or bridge, and the wood condition is good. The frets show little wear and have been polished, so they are in a clean condition. There are linear scratches from strumming on the body surface, but they are not very deep and are barely visible depending on the light. The neck is almost straight. A spacer is placed under the saddle, and the string height is 1.9mm on the 1st string side and 2.5mm on the 4th string side. It is set up to balance playability and tone, and there is no noticeable buzzing. If you raise the string height and secure a wider vibration range for the strings, it has the potential to sound even better, so you may want to consider replacing the saddle to your liking. It has a gentle tone that evokes the transience of high-quality Hawaiian koa. A hard case for pineapple ukuleles that fits the instrument perfectly is included. Island Traditions ukuleles, handmade in Hawaii, are rarely available. It is especially rare for a pineapple-shaped ukulele to appear on the used market. Recommended for those considering a KAMAKA HP-1D or similar. Even for recent Deluxe grade KAMAKA models, it is rare to find wood grain like this. Please consider it!!
