When the clutch is disengaged, the level winder stops, and it becomes a free spool. The brake is unique, with a friction brake built into the left-side cast control. Handle and clutch function normally. This is an unused item and a very clean reel overall, but it is a vintage item that has been manufactured for a considerable number of years.
