Kilohearts Convolver is a convolution (IR) reverb plugin. Despite its simple UI, it has more functionality than a typical convolution reverb. Convolution is a mathematical process that allows you to shape one sound with another. By recording the reverberation of a specific space after a loud sound, and using the resulting audio waveform (called an IR (Impulse Response)), you can make guitars, drums, synths, etc., sound as if they were recorded in the same space. You can also use Impulse Responses (IRs) to add a variety of linear response effects, such as exotic filters, guitar cabinets, and gritty delays. Convolver comes with over 300 factory preset IRs (Impulse Responses) from the start. You can create a variety of sounds using these IRs. You can also load your own samples to create your own convolutions. Kilohearts' "Convolver Snapin" is not just a reverb. Convolution is the process of multiplying one sound by another. The most common and very cool use of convolution is reverb. If you go to an atmospheric place, like a local church or your grandmother's bathroom, and record the echo of a short click sound, you can convolve the resulting impulse response (IR) with other sounds, making it sound as if you were playing in that place by magic. But that's not all Convolver can do. Since IRs are just audio files, you can load any sample into Convolver and emulate anything from a simple guitar amp cabinet to a freaky filter or a unique delay.
