The regular members, including leader Duke Ellington (p), Ray Nance, Clark Terry, and others (tp), John Sanders, Britt Woodman, and others (tb), Johnny Hodges, Harry Carney, Paul Gonsalves, and others (sax), Jimmy Wood (b), and Sam Woodyard (ds), perform with subtlety and a sense of shadow. Ellington, as a composer, left behind excellent works such as Mood Indigo, Solitude, and Prelude To A Kiss, and also covers famous songs like Autumn Leaves, Willow Weep For Me, and Tenderly, making this a content-rich listening experience.
