Description Daidō Nishigaki is a Zen Buddhist monk and the chief priest of Gokuraku-zenji Temple, a Rinzai school temple of the Daitoku-ji branch, located in Kinosaki-cho, Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture. Brief Biography: 1942: Born in Kinosaki-cho, Hyogo Prefecture. 1949: Ordained under Master Sōkō Nishigaki. After graduating from Bukkyo University: Trained at Daitoku Sōdō and Shokoku-ji Sōdō. 1978: Became the chief priest of Gokuraku-zenji Temple, a Daitoku-ji branch temple in Hyogo Prefecture. 2007: Awarded the Order of the Blue Ribbon for long-standing welfare activities. 2016: Awarded the Order of the Sacred Treasure in the spring conferment. Gokuraku-zenji Temple was founded in the early 15th century and is closely associated with Zen Master Takuan. Daidō Nishigaki is also actively involved in local welfare activities, having established and managed Kinosaki Children's Garden.
