It features a black base with a vermilion red rim and a gold plant pattern. The gourd shape, which widens towards the bottom, has been considered a symbol of good luck, warding off evil, and bringing good fortune in Japan since ancient times. Many gourd-shaped items are made with the wish for "good health and longevity." As it has a different design, it can be used not only as a tray but also as tableware for sweets, appetizers, sushi, hors d'oeuvres, etc.
