This is a local craft item, an Urashiro-bori tray. Each one is hand-carved. Both trays are 36cm in diameter. As round trays, they are large and can hold a lot. Trays exceeding 30cm are designed to be lighter when loaded, and these trays are much lighter than they appear. There is some peeling on the back. Please check the images. Other than that, they are in good condition with no noticeable scratches. The retail price is around 20,000 to 25,000 yen per tray. In the local area, Urashiro-bori trays were once found in almost every household. These are good quality trays, as my grandmother cherished them. In Kurashiki, there is a very demanding custom called "Okanki," where neighbors are invited weekly from the funeral to the forty-ninth day to recite sutras and serve tea and sweets. These trays were used during those occasions. I think this custom has largely faded away now, but I hope someone who appreciates the history will use these trays.
