Polartec fleece is used for Level 3, and it is characterized by being very light and warm. It is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain year by year. Polartec was founded in 1906 in Massachusetts, USA, and is a long-established fabric manufacturer. The company was one of the first to work on the development of fabrics using polyester, but its performance declined in the 1970s. However, together with Yvon Chouinard, the founder of 'Patagonia', they jointly developed fleece material.
