You can portion and freeze rice. The container is designed to prevent the rice from sticking, and when reheating, it's very easy – just slightly open the lid and put it in the microwave. It's dishwasher safe and I mainly used it just for freezing rice. Therefore, I never used this product as a plate or for anything other than rice.
