This is a hand-carried basket made deep in the mountains of the Chugoku region. I purchased it over 10 years ago in a village near the Iwami Ginzan Silver Mine in Shimane Prefecture. It is woven with extremely thin split bamboo, resulting in a very fine mesh. The reinforcing ribs are hidden, enhancing its beautiful appearance. The amber color is lovely, and its size is suitable for holding fruits and vegetables, or for drying washed dishes. I have been collecting it, but I am temporarily putting it up for sale.
