We are offering a sugar pot from the former German company SMF (Schramberg Majolika-Fabrik). This is a rare vintage item from the German SMF company, which has had a peculiar fate. These items are from the "Bernau Series," manufactured in the 1970s. They are heavy and substantial, with a warm design using brown tones, and are ceramics that evoke the German concept of "gemütlichkeit" (coziness), with each piece meticulously hand-painted. ■SMF (Schramberg Majolika-Fabrik) SMF existed from 1820 to 1989 in Schramberg, a town in southwestern Germany, near the borders of Switzerland and France, in a region known as the "Black Forest." It was founded by Isidor Faist, a stoneware expert, but was later sold to Villeroy & Boch, and then to Jewish brothers Moritz Meyer and Leopold Meyer. The brothers were forced to sell the factory by the Nazis during the persecution of Jews just before World War II and emigrated to England. After the war, they returned to Germany and were permitted to restart the factory. The brothers' descendants continued to inherit and manage the factory, but it finally closed in 1989. ■Size: Diameter 9.5cm x Height 7cm As this is a vintage item, it does not come with its original box, but we will pack it carefully.
