【Japanese Traditional Craft】This is a vase by Sadao Tatebayashi of Korin-an Kiln, Arita, a famous Japanese kiln that carries on the tradition of Aka-e (red painting). This vase is a Nishiki-Setsubai (brocade snow camellia) vase painted in Sadao Tatebayashi's unique Aka-e style. Sadao Tatebayashi was one of the Four Heavenly Kings of the Kakiemon Kiln and a leading figure in Aka-e. He was also awarded the Order of the Rising Sun and is famous as a contemporary master craftsman. The beautiful designs are all hand-painted.
