These are Denon SC-101V speakers, which were not cheap for their compact size back then. They cost about ¥50,000 for the pair. Critics say that most of the value was invested in the hard dome tweeter, but I don't think that's entirely true. Certainly, the tweeters, via a luxurious network, were able to handle modern high-resolution audio, but the woofers also delivered crisp, tight bass, not boomy, which perfectly matched the tweeters. In my personal opinion, the balance is better than the CX101. I removed the rubber surrounds on a well-maintained pair, washed them with a special cleaning agent, protected them with rubber protectant, and after cleaning the network (dry type for electronic components), I confirmed the remaining performance and functionality with a tester. The woofers on the V model have more impact than the II model, but unfortunately, in terms of balance, the V model wins out, though the V model simply doesn't have a large enough production volume. Unfortunately, both woofers on this unit, which are over a quarter of a century old, were seized and could not be played. I had stock of 5-inch speakers from Sharp, Mitsubishi, Victor, and YSC Audio, as Denon brand speakers were unavailable, so I tried them all. The full-range speakers from YSC Audio had the best balance, so I installed them and am listing them for sale. Please be aware that this is a modified product.
