I found this while cleaning out my parents' house. It's a balance scale used to measure the weight of things like diamonds. Please understand that this is an antique, and those who are overly sensitive should refrain from purchasing. Electronic scales are the norm now, but it's lovely to have this (^^) The weight is measured in carats. It also comes with small tweezers to handle the weights.
