An antique, natural wood, vermilion lacquered, extra-large bowl (Oohira-wan / Ume-wan / Nimono-wan). It shows wear and tear commensurate with its age. (The lid has four chips in places that are not visible when the lid is closed.) The fine annual rings visible when held up to the light suggest that it was made from a single large plank of wood. It would be wonderful for serving chirashizushi, as a confectionery bowl, as a substitute for an ohitsu (rice container), or for displaying small items.
