You can check the color of the beans through a hidden window on the top of the main body without opening the damper. When I first started roasting, I used a hand-held pot, but after purchasing this hand-crank roaster, I was impressed by how I could roast the target amount in a significantly shorter time and achieve an even roast. I used it by placing the main body on the included stainless steel stand (DIY item) and applying heat with an outdoor burner. Similar roasters are listed by others for 50,000 yen, but they show the same level of wear and tear as my listing over time.
