This is a clay doll I purchased at an antique market. I believe it's a clay doll from the Tohoku region. I haven't seen this pose before. Perhaps it's a Kabuki figure? It somehow reminds me of the faces in Hitoshi Ebisu's salaryman manga. According to the shop owner, it's a Hanamaki doll. The era is from the late Edo period to around the Meiji period.
