After purchase, I opened it once and connected it to the power supply, then connected it to an amplifier and confirmed tape playback through the speakers. I did not test recording. The sound during playback was very clear and satisfactory. The tray opens and closes without issue, but the grease may solidify further during storage. The appearance is as shown in the photos.
