This is a rechargeable portable cassette player/recorder called the Capsule 55R, made by Hitachi, which seems to have been released around 1986 (Showa 61). I received it as is from storage, but the NiCd battery was still inside and had leaked. Body only, no accessories. It's definitely unusable, but I'm including the original battery for reference. It's severely deteriorated, so please do not charge it under any circumstances. (Photo 11) (If you don't need it, I will dispose of it, so please let me know when you purchase it.) The original adapter was supposed to be 3V 250mA. The included battery is a NiCd 2.4V 180mAh, the size of two AAA batteries, so it should be replaceable with NiMH. I confirmed that the power lamp lights up when I put in new batteries and close the lid halfway (Photo 3). It turns off when fully closed, so there seems to be a contact issue somewhere. When I turned it on and tuned to a radio station, I could hear it faintly, but it's far from normal operation. When I pressed the cassette playback button while it was on, the lamp lit up for a certain amount of time and then turned off, so the belt might be stretched or broken? However, I haven't disassembled it, so the details are unknown. It's too old and absolutely requires restoration work and cannot be used as is, so it's a junk item (no returns, no claims).
