Some of Charlie Parker's best live recordings were performed at the Royal Roost and broadcast on the radio from 1948 to 49. Savoy released all the music chronologically on two double LPs and this album. Volume 3 includes the last three broadcasts by Bird's quintet of the time (with trumpeter Kenny Dorham, pianist Al Haig, bassist Tommy Potter, and drummer Max Roach). Special guests such as vibraphonist Milt Jackson, tenor saxophonist Lucky Thompson, and bop singers Dave Lambert and Buddy Stewart also appear. Highlights include "Half Nelson," "Cheryl," "Anthropology," and a six-minute version of "Chasin' the Bird." Highly recommended in conjunction with the previous two volumes. #Charlie Parker #CD・DVD
