A confectionary bowl by Kazen Kitamura (北村和善), made with copper red glaze (辰砂釉). This piece is approximately 40 years old. The deep, lustrous copper red glaze, tinged with purplish-red, is beautiful and quietly complements the atmosphere of a tea room. It can be used elegantly for nerikiri (sweet bean paste), yokan (jellied sweet bean paste), and dried sweets, as well as seasonal fruits and small dishes. The rim has a gently flared, refined shape, making it easy to serve from, and it suits both sencha (leaf tea) and koicha/usucha (thick/thin tea) ceremonies. Size: Approximately 20cm in diameter / Approximately 7cm in height The size is easy to handle as a confectionary bowl. It doesn't interfere with the tea ceremony atmosphere and readily accepts the colors and shapes of the main sweets. I've placed kanoko (a type of sweet) as a New Year's lucky charm inside. The beauty of the copper red glaze's negative space is striking. It has been carefully stored unused. There are no noticeable scratches, chips, or cracks, and the glaze is in excellent condition, a very beautiful item. It will be delivered with the original cloth and box, ensuring complete protection. The box has some light stains, likely from storage. Purchased from Kaji Village, a Kyoto tea utensil specialty store. For your reference, the original invoice at the time of purchase is attached. Please note that only the confectionary bowl is included. Kazen Kitamura, Copper Red Glaze, Confectionary Bowl, Tea Utensil, Tea Ceremony, Kyo-yaki (Kyoto ware), Omuro-yaki, Kiyomizu-yaki, with original box, unused.
