This is a plate with a circus elephant design, made with a pattern-changed ink-printed dyeing technique from the Meiji to Taisho eras. The adorable design features three elephants arranged between radiating stripes, creating a sense of dynamism as if a circus curtain is opening. There are areas where iron glaze has overflowed on the inside, which can be appreciated as a scene created by chance within the kiln. Due to the manufacturing techniques of the time, there are distortions, printing misalignments, kiln marks, and imperfections.
