Older Mackinaws sometimes used linen, but this one is from around the 1950s-60s. The fabric is probably cotton-poly, or perhaps there's a special name for this type of material, but I'm pretty sure it's a cotton and synthetic fiber blend. It's thin yet tough and light, a really great fabric. Yes, the incredibly light weight is also appealing. The size is probably a golden size.
