Please consider the photos of the dress being worn as a reference only. The fabric is not see-through, so you probably don't need a petticoat. The back is designed to be separated at the top and bottom, and the waist area can be adjusted with the waist tie. I've only tried it on, and there are no stains or frays; the condition is clean. (It has been dry cleaned just in case.)
